Even if the creator of the OST of Interstellar is Hans Zimmer, the music of the trailer comes from the work of Thomas Bergersen. He is one of the co-founders of Two Steps From Hell, the kings of epic sound. If you don’t heard nothing of them yet, bellow you have “Heart of Courage”, one of their best selling tracks that you have listen for sure before in a cinema.
Almost 20 million views for a trailer score is not bad at all. Technically speaking, Two Steps From Hell is a company formed by Thomas Bergersen and Nick Phoenix dedicated to create original scores for movie trailers. Since they released their first album “Invincible” a coupe of years ago, they have reached some kind of epic-music guru status.
It seems that the trailer creator thought it would be a good idea to use one of the tracks from their latest album “sun” for the third official montage of this over hyped film (personally i can predict that it will outlive the high expectations), and that seems a perfect decision. Now, the real questions are, Why both composer aren’t collaborating in the making of the final score? and Why this track won’t be in the final score?
The truth is that, even when this track is not composed by the same producers, it could be perfectly complementary to the film score. The title of this glorious track is “Final Frontier”. Is this is a coincidence? With Christopher Nolan & God, there are no coincidences. This kind of choice is just “Nolan style”, if you remember one of the trailers of one of his latest movies Inception featured another great score from Zack Hemsey that matched perfectly with the main score of the film and had the same vibe. It’s a shame that this tracks didn’t make it to the final official soundtracks
